Dental Hygenist

I am originally from Boston, MA. I moved to VA in 2018 with my husband and have been with the Smiles for Centreville family ever since! I love working out, baking, and spending time with our rescue pup, Leo. Being a hygienist allows me to help keep health and confidence as a priority for patients- a smile is the best accessory! I love meeting new people and building relationships with my patients. My role has given me a patient base where I not only make a difference in someone’s day but they make a difference in mine!

5 Degrees, Clubs/Memberships: graduated 2011 from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene

Dental Hygenist

I was born and raised in Clifton, VA where I grew up playing sports and working at Smiles for Centreville as an administrative assistant during high school. During this time, I was able to witness the positive impact the Smiles for Centreville team had on their patients every day and it inspired me to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. I attended Virginia Commonwealth University and played Division I soccer. Upon graduation, I returned to Smiles for Centreville as a Registered Dental Hygienist. I am passionate about sharing the importance of dental hygiene and making every patient I see comfortable and confident in their smile.

I am an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, participated in multiple Virginia Dental Association Mission of Mercy Projects, and I am actively seeking continuing education opportunities.

I strive to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Outside of work you’ll find me doing some type of exercise like lifting weights, running or hiking. I am very passionate about food and love to create new recipes! I can chat restaurants and grocery store finds all day. If I’m not cooking or outdoors, I’m spending quality time with my close family and friends. To me, family is everything! Can’t wait to meet you!

Dental Hygenist

My name is Janis Slezak and I am from New England. I was born in Rhode Island and grew up in southeastern Connecticut. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve summers at the beach and to this day I love vacationing by the ocean. My family and I try to spend as much time as we can outdoors and camping at the OBX is one of our favorite getaways. Nothing beats a day filled with sand and sun!

I have been working in the dental field for over twelve years now. I became a dental hygienist after working as a civilian dental assistant for the Department of the Army and I love what I do! Advocating for patients is my passion. Calming anxious patients is my specialty.

I am an active member of the Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association. Degree ODU bachelors

Dental Hygenist

I was born and raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia but now reside in Centreville with my husband, Nick. We spend our free time entertaining our sassy Australian Cattle Dog pup with many activities like hiking in the mountains and glamping across the state!

My entire life I have been extremely passionate about helping others in need. This led me to become a lifetime Girl Scout member. In college, I went on a mission trip to Rome, Jamaica to provide dental hygiene care to the underserved population. I was also awarded the Colgate Star Award for demonstrating true dedication to the profession, exhibiting extraordinary compassion in patient care, displaying enthusiasm and follow-through for community service, and demonstrating outstanding patient education and motivation skills. As you can tell, I love helping people, which is why I became a dental hygienist. I am a firm believer that everything is connected which has made me passionate about educating and discussing how oral health is linked to whole-body health. I will be happy to guide you on your health journey!

Dental Hygenist

I am originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, but moved to Northern Virginia 11 years ago we have lived all over the area and currently reside in Haymarket. I have 3 kids, boy/girl twins, who are almost 12, and a daughter who is 9. We love to be outdoors, whether it's hiking, camping, the beach, fishing, riding bikes, a fire in the backyard or running, we are always on the move! I was a dental assistant for a few years before I had kids. I became a hygienist because I have always loved going to the dentist. I used to pretend to be a dentist and clean teeth when I was younger. My goal as a hygienist is to have my patients be comfortable in the dental chair and not be scared. I want to educate my patients and have them look forward to coming back each visit. I love the personal connections I make with them and I pride myself in being a gentle hygienist. Proud Navy wife!
