Dental Inlays & Onlays
Drs. Hutchison, Gorman, Mooney, and Grossman provide dental inlays and onlays, sometimes called partial crowns, to restore damaged or decayed teeth to full function and beauty. While traditional restoration techniques required two appointments to complete an inlay or onlay, Smiles for Centreville utilizes CEREC one-visit restoration technology to provide your inlays and onlays in a single visit to our practice. Please call our office at 703-830-9110 to learn more about dental inlays and onlays in Centreville, Virginia, and to make your appointment with one of our friendly dentists.
What is a dental inlay?
A dental inlay is a restoration used to repair a tooth that has suffered from decay or damage. Inlays are similar to fillings, but while a filling is shaped directly on the tooth, an inlay is custom made from molds and impressions of your tooth and then cemented onto the tooth.
What is a dental onlay?
A dental onlay is similar to an inlay, but it is used to repair more extensive damage. The onlay is designed to replace the chewing surface of the tooth, including the cusp(s) of the tooth; an inlay, on the other hand, is contained within the cusps of the tooth. Both dental inlays and onlays are custom made and can be created from tooth-colored materials, like porcelain, for a beautiful restoration. Our dentists will make certain that your custom onlay or inlay fits your smile comfortably and looks natural.
